Why Documentary Photography Works Here

West Lothian doesn't need much help looking beautiful. That's the point.

I don't direct. I don't pose people against landmarks and tell them where to put their hands. I follow what's happening, the moment before the first dance, the grandmother watching from the side, the groom who doesn't know where to look.

This part of Scotland has a quietness to it that suits that approach. The light comes in low. The landscapes do the work.

My job is not to get in the way.

Getting to West Lothian

West Lothian sits between Edinburgh and Falkirk, with easy access from the M8 and M9. Linlithgow has a direct train line from Edinburgh Waverley, taking around twenty minutes.
For couples travelling from the US, Edinburgh Airport is the obvious entry point. It's thirty minutes from Linlithgow by car, less if you're coming straight from the terminal. Most American couples I work with fly into Edinburgh and base themselves there for a few days before or after the wedding.
